Building the Dream: 1910 Whispering Pines Restoration
Whispering Pines was commissioned in 1910 by timber baron Thaddeus Vance using virgin old-growth Douglas fir and quarter-sawn white oak timbers. We are undertaking an authentic, ground-up restorationβjacking the 60-ton structure on hydraulic towers, restoring scalloped Peach Bottom black slate 32 feet high, replacing legacy lead supply pipes with modern PEX-A lines, and creating an educational craftsmanship center and community B&B. Every contribution directly funds historic materials, specialized restoration tools, and structural preservation.
